Procedures for adoption
First of all visit the Animal Home and if you see an animal
you like you will be given the opportunity to play with it.
If you then wish to adopt the animal you will be asked to
complete a questionnaire and the animal will be reserved
for you.
One of our home visitors will call to see you in your home.
This is to make sure that everything is alright for both
the animal and yourself. E.g. If you are adopting a dog
have you a secure garden or yard with 5 - 6ft fence or
wall.
There are many other responsibilities for sensible pet
ownership and these will all be discussed.
The Animal Home is advised of the result of this visit and
if satisfactory the cat, dog or rabbit is then neutered and
the happy owner will be able to collect their new pet the
next day.
Current prices- Dogs £99.00, Cats £61. These prices also
include neutering, microchipping, fleeing, worming and a
starter pack of food. Cats and dogs are fully vaccinated.
We have many other animals for adoption e.g. rabbits, and
occasionally ferrets, hamsters, birds, rats, mice, guinea
pigs, chickens and many more. We carry out home checks for
rabbits and birds going into aviaries, and chickens and
large miscellaneous animals.
If you wish to adopt a smaller pet you will be able to take
it straight home as long as you bring a suitable cage or
pen when you visit the
animal home.
Adoption fee for Rabbits £5.00 (includes neutering and
vaccination against Myxomatosis) and for miscellaneous
animals from £2.

Home Visits
When an animal is reserved at the Animal Home a Home
Visitor will contact the prospective adopter within 3 days
of reserving the animals. Arrangements are then made to
visit the adopter’s home to make sure, both from the
animals point of view and for the adopter that everything
is satisfactory.
What we try to prevent is for the animal to be returned to
the Animal Home because it was not suitable, and a home
visit hopefully makes sure everything possible is done
before adoption.
Circumstances can change and if you find that you must part
with your pet, e.g. emigration or incapacity we will take
back your adopted pet and rehome it once again.
